Hussein has landed!

I wonder how many people know that president Obama's middle name is Hussein? :P

It is somewhat ironically to have u'r number 1 person of the country, the head of State, named after one of u'r country's most wanted (well, now he is considered dead by hanging, but conspirationists say other things) enemies, Saddam Hussein.

But who knows, maybe by this irony and the impression that deeds are more important than ones name will Barack Obama begin his 'reign' at the White House, a different regime greeted with great hope by many. I dunno if the hype if because he's the first African-American person to rule the USA or something else.

Anyway, what I've liked the most was his speech. Yes, it was still written in that old demagogic pattern and using that motivation that America is nr 1 and we rule and u must obey, blah-bla. But, still, this speech was somewhat different from others. It was the first one, I think, that introduced the true meaning of diplomacy, not to invade and kill others that oppose us, but to sit down and talk to them and try to solve our differences in a peacefully and diplomatic way.

Another thing that I've liked was when he admitted that USA was a conglomerate of nations and religions, that before trying to bug into other countries' problems, they should resolve their own internal struggles. His exact words were: "We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus and non-believers. We are shaped by every language and culture, drawn from every end of this Earth."

Also, he admitted that the problems of the Muslim countries are not caused by western powers but by some of their own leaders: "To the Muslim world, we seek a new way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect. To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history. To the people of poor nations, we pledge to work alongside you … and to those nations like ours that enjoy relative plenty, we say we can no longer afford indifference to suffering outside our borders; nor can we consume the world's resources without regard to effect."

In the end, president Obama reminded the whole world, once again, that America doesn't die, only slumbers to awaken enraged and more stronger than ever, as one of his predecessors once said:

"Let it be told to the future world … that in the depth of winter, when nothing but hope and virtue could survive … that the city and the country, alarmed at one common danger, came forth to meet it."
